Coffee Shouldn’t Be So Serious
Let me just say it: coffee culture can be… a lot. I love a good pour-over as much as the next person, but sometimes I just want my caffeine fix without a dissertation on single-origin beans or the precise altitude where the coffee cherries were grown.
That said, I’m also a sucker for great coffee and good vibes, which is why Indaba on Monroe hits the sweet spot for me. It’s coffee without the pretension, paired with a sense of community that feels like… well a warm cup of coffee. .
Now, let’s get into it.
I stopped by Indaba Coffee on Monroe for what I thought would be a quick latte and ended up spending the whole morning there. It’s not just a coffee shop—it’s a space where you can settle in for a work day, meet friends, or even procrastinate on your to-do list while sipping something amazing.
What I Ordered
- Lavender Latte
I’m a lavender enthusiast, but it’s hard to find a lavender drink that isn’t too overwhelmingly floral. Indaba nailed it. Smooth, floral, and just sweet enough.
12/10 - The Monroe Toast
Avocado toast? Yawn. But Monroe Toast? Yes, please. Topped with ricotta, honey, and sea salt.
9/10
The Vibe
Indaba on Monroe feels like your cool friend’s living room—if your cool friend also happened to be a barista with great taste in music and an appreciation for local art.
Final Thoughts
Do I care if my coffee was brewed with the same precision as a NASA launch? Not really. Do I care if it’s delicious, the baristas are friendly, and the space feels like home? Absolutely.
Come for the coffee, stay for the community. And if you’re lucky, maybe you’ll snag a slice of their famous banana bread before it sells out.
Catch you at the corner table with a Lavender Latte and some Monroe Toast.
