SLICE ‘N SIP – Episode 26

For this slice ‘n sip we’re going to take a little bit of a journey all the way to the east coast in Wilmington, NC. Me and my fiancé were visiting family for the 4th of July and I was eager to get out and explore the downtown scene. That’s where we found Bespoke Coffee.

Now, in the Northwest, there are coffee stands and shops EVERYWHERE. In the South, not so much. Don’t get me wrong, they have coffee places, but not like we have here. So I found, truly, the most PNW place without even meaning to, and it was packed! We’re talking there was no room for seating. The interior and branding were absolutely amazing with fun art and grunge patterns painted on the walls all influenced by skeleton designs. And the best part is, they had lots of swag to purchase, so obviously we got a sticker. (Here’s the link to their website, if you want to check it out and order some 😉: https://www.bespokecoffeenc.com/s/shop) They also kept with the original look of the building, with penny tile flooring mixed with natural wood, and of course, plants.

Now, for the coffee. I have never been one for lots of flavors and sweeteners, so I also get an americano. Normally, I am a hot americano girlie no matter how hot it is outside, but with the humidity, I had to do an iced one. Little side note, I don’t know if any of you have been to the South, but WOW. IT IS HUMID. To all our Zerorez bases on the east coast, I feel for you. Though, call me crazy, I actually kind of love the humidity… 🙈 I feel like I am being wrapped in a blanket and man, does my skin glow 😂. Anyway, I really feel that an americano is the best thing to test at any coffee company because you’re appreciating just their espresso and seeing how they brew it. As much as I loved the atmosphere, I was a little disappointed in the coffee… It was just a little bitter for me and had an interesting flavor that I can’t really describe… Sweet maybe? Like I said though, it was really packed, so maybe I am in the minority for not liking it as much, but I would go back again for sure to see if it was a one-off.

So! If you are ever in Wilmington, NC, definitely stop by Bespoke for the atmosphere and fun swag! Maybe get one of their specialty drinks and prove me wrong for not liking it. Plus, you will be supporting a local business, which we always love 🖤.
